Today all the news in the world just didn’t concern me or the family as my new grandson had his brit mila (circumcision). I normally do not write about personal family events since there is so much going on in Israel that needs a voice that israelseen helps provide. However, I just couldn’t contain my joy at this miracle of being a grandpa or Saba in Hebrew. My friends have told me for a number of years now that this is an amazing experience. Now my wife and I are just beginning to absorb this new opportunity to share ourselves with this new member of the tribe. I can get all high and mighty about how we can help shape this little soul into being a mench but right now I just feel so blessed to hold him and to feel the warmth that surrounds him in a community of love and affection.

With a population of 1.2 billion people, India is the world’s largest democracy[1] and has upgraded its relationship with Israel significantly in the last two decades. As democracies surrounded by mostly authoritarian neighbors, the two countries have improved cooperation in areas of mutual interest and concern. India and Israel have joined together in counterterrorism efforts and increased trade and economic ties,[2] and Israeli high-tech companies and start-ups are increasingly outsourcing much of their development to India.[3] In the field of agriculture, Indo-Israeli cooperation on both the public and private levels encompasses wide-ranging projects, including water management, dairy farming, horticulture and floriculture.[4] Additionally, India and Israel have expanded tourism and cultural exchanges in recent years.[5]

IsraPort.org was launched recently by some Israel supporters who wondered why nobody had attempted to use the internet to earn funds for pro-Israel charities. The creators have implemented a commonly used form of internet advertising on the website but it is what IsraPort.org does with the revenue that makes it unique – one hundred percent of profit earned from advertising is donated to two non-profit organizations.
