Bonna Devora Haberman founded and directs Mistabra. She is the initiator of 13 year-strong social change movement in Israel, Women of the Wall, promoting the roles of women in public sacred space, and the vibrancy of Israeli pluralist democracy. Born and raised in Ottawa, Canada where she studied the texts and traditions of Judaism and Western classics, she holds a doctorate in Philosophy and Education from the University of London, England. Since 1995 she has taught on the faculties of the Harvard University Divinity School, the Brandeis University Department of Near Eastern and Judaic Studies, and Hebrew College. She has published widely in the academic and popular press. She is the mother of five.
