Re: In the enlightened world it’s called robbery By Benny Ziffer
can be found at: I find it difficult to understand if Benny Ziffer is just ignorant or oblivious. Admittedly the reality here is complicated and convoluted on many levels in many areas of national activity. . When it comes to the present in relation to the past as expressed in local archeology we really find ourselves in a legal no-mans-land.
I am curious, when we talk of King Herod, does Ziffer know of him in the historical record as King of the Arabs or as oppressor of the Palestinians? Is Ziffer ignorant of the fact that we know of him in large part due to the relations in between the Roman conquers and occupiers of Jude and the Jewish inhabitants, more than two thousand years ago?
Is he aware that this was long before the advent of Islam. Long before Arab Muslims even dreamed of the far off land called Judea and of its occupiers, the Roman Empire?
Is it relevant to know that Herod was King of the Jews from the year 37 until 4 B.C.E.?
He was appointed by Mark Anthony and Octavia as King of Judea hundreds of years before the first Arab set foot on the land, before the Romans changed its name to Palestine, (which was long after the Philistines after whom it was named disappeared from the land).
King Herod also known as the Great inflicted a great number of murders during his reign of power. All of his victims were Jews. Does this not give us some rights to the artifacts of his time and reign?
