UNPACKED – Why Do Presidential Candidates Care So Much About Israel?

Israel has jokingly been called the 51st State of the United State of America and both Israel and the U.S. seem to be in the midst of a hot and heavy geopolitical love affair.

In an increasingly partisan country, the value of America’s alliance with Israel is one of the few issues that both Republicans and Democrats agree on.

Of course, there have been some bumps, depending on who happens to be in the Oval Office. Overall, though, presidents and candidates on both sides of the aisle have been fairly vocal in expressing their support for Israel.

So, as election season 2020 reaches its crazy peak, we’re unpacking the history, meaning and reality behind the constantly growing bond shared by Israel and the United States. We’re asking how this relationship began, why support of Israel is such a bipartisan issue, and what this beautiful friendship means for the U.S.
