Israel’s first Bedouin diplomat, who assumed the role as the acting Consul General of Miami

@IshmaelKhaldi The Consulate General of Israel in Miami welcomes Israel’s first Bedouin diplomat, who assumed the role of the acting Consul General effective Nov. 25. Mr. Khaldi was born and raised in the Bedouin village of Khawalid in the Western Galilee of Israel. Mr. Khaldi served in the@IDF and the@israelpolice before being chosen to join the@IsraelMFA in October 2004, where he became Israel’s first Bedouin diplomat. He first served in the Arabic Media Department as the Spokesperson to the Arabic media during the Disengagement from Gaza and later served as the Deputy Consul General in@IsraelinSF between 2006 and 2009.
From 2009 until 2011, Mr. Khaldi served as the Policy Adviser to the MFA Minister. In 2012 he assumed the role as Counselor for Civil Society Affairs at the Embassy of @IsraelinUK.
Mr. Khaldi is the author of “A Shepherd’s Journey: The Story of Israel’s First Bedouin Diplomat” and he earned a B.A. in Political Science from the@UofHaifa and a Master’s Degree in International Relations from @TelAvivUni
