Israel Seen – Hebrew U brings American-style Alumni Networking to Israel
American schools, famous for their student loyalty and dedication to alumni, have long been using alumni as a source of mentoring, jobs and funding for their current students.
For the first time, an Israeli university has partnered with Graduway, one of the world’s leading alumni networking platform providers, to offer the same advantages to Israeli students.
With the launch of HUJIconnect.com, Israel’s leading university, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, has now joined the ranks of Oxford and UCLA and education institutions across 26 countries that use Graduway.
Dr. Shlomit Shulov Barkan, Hebrew University’s Director of Alumni Relations said: “We are excited to be partnering with Graduway and providing more than 30,000 of our alumni with their own exclusive place to professionally and socially connect with one another. 4,000 alumni have already signed up, approximately half have offered to be mentors to students, and 300 jobs have been posted so far. We urge all former students to sign up so that they can benefit from the incredible networking opportunities that come from having studied at the Hebrew University.”
Daniel Cohen, CEO of Graduway, said: “We are delighted to be working with The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, which is our first partner in Israel. Israel is known as the “Start-Up Nation” and the Hebrew University is known as “the start-up of the Start-Up Nation,” and it is wonderful for us to be working with such a prestigious institution.”
Hebrew University will also be providing mini-networks to other parts of the university. The first school to go live is the Faculty of Law, Israel’s oldest law school and the flagship of legal research and education in Israel.
‘‘We have decided to expand the network to offer a niche networking platform specifically for our law graduates, helping them access job opportunities,” said Dr. Shulov Barkan. “It will provide a unique career community for them and enable them to share best practice, professional development opportunities and case law updates. We also look forward to launching an American Friends of Hebrew University alumni networking platform this summer.”
