Yad ‘b Yad, Hand in Hand is an Israeli non-profit based in Jerusalem. The organization helps support three Hebrew/Arabic schools in Israel. The latest to open is in Jerusalem.
In these schools each classroom has two teachers, one from the Jewish/Hebrew culture, the other Muslim / Arabic. The children learn the two languages. Equal time is devoted to Jewish and Muslim holiday celebrations and observance.
The schools administration is also doubled.
The Jerusalem school is soon to move into its own new building.
The first school in the Arab sector, in the Wadi Ara community of Kafar Kana, east of Hadera was the subject of a documentary film, “Bridge over the Wadi” shown recently on Israeli TV and making the rounds of film festivals world wide.
