As Israel prepares for elections on October 27, 2026—the first time the Knesset has completed a full four-year term since 1988.
We are reminded of the enduring strength of our democracy. In the face of profound challenges over recent years, the people of Israel continue to show remarkable resilience: an economy that has defied expectations with soaring innovation and record exports, a surge in aliyah bringing new energy and hope from around the world, and a society that volunteers, supports one another, and builds for tomorrow. This moment is not just about choosing leaders; it is a celebration of our shared commitment to self-determination and the vibrant spirit that has always defined the Jewish state.
Just a few examples of what we do and how we care.
Colel Chabad is investing over $18 million this High Holiday season to deliver food packages, hot meals, baby formula, and holiday support to more than 150,000 households across the country; young national-service volunteers quietly enter the homes of bereaved families weeks and months after loss to help with homework, meals, and daily routines; and grassroots networks still pack supplies for soldiers, set up free coffee stations inside bomb shelters, and assist farms near the borders.
In the south, communities like Sderot have transformed trauma into strength by opening innovation hubs focused on mental health and recovery, while nearly 300 young Jews from 34 countries are making aliyah this summer to serve as lone soldiers.
This spirit of mutual care is also visible in the recent milestone of Nefesh B’Nefesh welcoming its 100,000th North American immigrant, six-year-old Emilia Douglas and her family from New York, warmly received by President Isaac Herzog in Jerusalem. Their decision to build a life here, joined by thousands of other olim, sits alongside a resilient high-tech economy, recovering tourism, and a society that keeps ranking among the world’s happiest.
Looking ahead, the coming weeks offer an opportunity to reaffirm what unites us—our love for this land, our dedication to security and prosperity, and our belief in a brighter future. From thriving tech hubs and recovering tourism to families putting down new roots and communities lifting each other up, Israel’s light continues to shine. Whatever the results, the true victory belongs to a nation that refuses to be defined by hardship and instead chooses hope, creativity, and unity.
