Even those that would normally be considered to be intelligent beings, such as perhaps, the so-called experienced journalists and the western media outlets that they work for, show gross stupidity (and that is being generous in describing them) in their “reporting”. Their most recent distortions, lies and inaccuracies regarding the barbaric attack by two Palestinian Arabs on peaceful Jews praying in their synagogue in WESTERN Jerusalem in a totally Jewish neighborhood, killing five and wounding many others.(See this blog published yesterday for a detailed explanation if you missed it: http://blogs.timesofisrael.com/cnns-freudian-slip/ ) is a point that comes to mind. Never mind the truth, let’s spin it to be anti-Israel!
Is it any wonder that Jews around the world are complaining of anti-Semitic journalism leading to anti-Semitic attacks everywhere – not just in Israel, when professional journalists intentionally (it can no longer be called ignorance of a fact, or a one-off mistake, because the list goes on and on) are party to, and complicit in anti-Israel and anti-Jewish sentiments and acts all around the globe.
Where and when did it start? When Israel was attacked by all of the neighboring Arab nations in 1967 (the six day war) and successfully defended itself and defeated the Arabs, the world press was then whole heartedly in support of Israel (with the possible exception of the Arab and Muslim nations), and similarly when in 1973 the Arabs again attacked Israel with overwhelming force, most world opinion was still in favour of Israel. Maybe it is because Israel is now recognized as being strong, with perhaps the world’s best Air force and best trained army. Perhaps the liberals don’t like to think of Jews as being able to defend themselves and having the ability to retaliate? Or is it just plain and simple anti-Semitism which has always existed but is now, again, politically correct to express?
When did part of the misguided and bigoted world come to the conclusion that Jerusalem was not the capital city of Israel? When I went to school, not a Jewish school I might add, but a Church of England School in England, albeit some years ago now, when we learned geography, Paris was the capital of France, London was the capital of England and Jerusalem was very much the capital of Israel (although at the time it was a divided city due to the Arabs having taken it over in the war of Independence in 1948, before it was again reunited following Israel’s successful defeat of the attackers once again in 1967.
The Jerusalem Embassy Act of 1995[1] is a public law of the United States passed by the 104th Congress on October 23, 1995. It was passed for the purposes of initiating and funding the relocation of the Embassy of the United States in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, (Wikipedia). Many world-wide leaders back then made statements about it, and as recently as June 6th 2008, Mr Obama stated that Jerusalem should be the undivided capital of Israel (although along with many other statements and promises made, he has backed away from that statement). See: Obama: Jerusalem must remain undivided, Israeli capital and http://cnsnews.com/news/article/candidate-obama-also-called-jerusalem-israel-s-capital-then-backtracked.
Many of the world’s leaders and their representatives at the United Nations consistently heap blame on Israel for many things, particularly for the lack of any peace settlement between Israel and the so called Palestinian peoples and for the lack of solution to the ongoing Palestinian refugee problem. (You might like to read the following very interesting and accurate profile of what actually caused the refugee problem, and you might be surprised to realize that it was not caused, or perpetuated by Israel! http://www.mefacts.com/cached.asp?x_id=11747).
It should be reiterated here that many of those so called Palestinians were migrant workers from surrounding Arab countries who came to live and work in what was then British mandated Palestine (a term the British used to describe both the Jews and the Arabs living in the area at the time) for financial reasons, the immigrating Jews who had started to clear the land were offering better work opportunities than those which were available where they had been. Of course there were many Arabs who had lived in the land, as well as there were many Jews who had also been there for centuries. In fact a census carried out in the 1880’s by the Ottoman Turks showed that there were more Jews than anyone else living in Jerusalem at that time. But I digress….
So Israel is berated at every crossroad, but does the world have anything to say about the Arab leaders who incite their public to the evil acts that we have witnessed in Israel over the last few weeks. Not a dickey bird! Just as, when Islamic Jihadists carried out their horrendous attacks on the twin towers in New York, on 9/11, or after the Boston Marathon murders, the Arabs of Gaza and Judea and Samaria (the West Bank if you like), were handing out sweets and celebrating in the streets, they were doing the same thing this week – and were celebrating their great victory of unarmed peaceful praying Jews being barbarically massacred by Palestinian murderers.
