Guns and Roses surprised their Tel Aviv audience on Tuesday when they played a rendition of the Israeli national anthem, Hatikvah, in the middle of their set.

While some artists bow to the pressures of the boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) movement and shun performing in Israel, popular 1990s rock band Guns & Roses not only included Israel on their tour, but even played a tribute to their host country.

Guitarist Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal played his rendition of Hatikvah. The audience joined in and sang the anthem until the rest of the band joined and launched then into their song, “Don’t cry.”

Ten thousand fans rocked out to the bands two-and-a-half-hour set, which in addition to Hatikvah, included assorted Pink Floyd covers.
