A Global Sabbath Tribute to Commemorate the Murder of Ori Ansbacher

Saluting the National-Civic Service

This Saturday, March 8th-9th, the National-Civic Service will hold an empowering tribute Sabbath for the their volunteers from all around Israel to commemorate 30 days since the murder of National-Civic Service volunteer, Ori Ansbacher. The Sabbath-tribute’s main goal is to empower and cherish the organization’s volunteers, by implementing a special lesson plan and online course to the public.

The National-Civic Service Authority is inviting educators, youth counselors and commune leaders, community leaders and Rabbis from Israel and around the world, to participate in the “Civic Service Sabbath” and to get content and lesson plans about the service and its core beliefs – giving back to the community, education for action in various fields and more. The content is suited for all ages and will be taught under the memory of Ori Ansbacher, a National-Civic Service volunteer.

This Saturday, in order to empower and pay tribute to the volunteers, specialized lessons will be implemented into schools and kindergartens, various activities in the Jewish National Fund’s forests, lectures and more.

The National-Civic Service Authority deals with youth volunteering in all sectors (security, health, welfare and education), those who are exempt from the IDF or those who are not called for draft (i.e. minorities, Hasidic Jews, youth with disabilities and more) in the age range of 18-24. This Saturday it’s time to give thanks to all those who do prolific and important work for their community and country.

The Minister appointed to the National-Civic Service Authority, Uri Uriel: March 8th-9th everything halts for the Sabbath-Tribute in Ori’s memorial, who spread the light and was a model example to all of us. The Global Sabbath-Tribute is also a time to give thanks to all the volunteers who work day and night for the country. I want to invite everyone to join us this Saturday, to commemorate, strengthen and distribute light just like Ori would do. Together, we become a more moral and stronger community and as Ori wrote, “Make peace in yourself”, we will make peace in ourselves”.

General Director of the National-Civic Service Authority, Reuven Pinsky: “On these dates, the citizen’s mission is to halt their daily lives in order to thank those who manage the Civic-Service and its volunteers. The tribute’s purpose is to thank the volunteers around Israel for all their hard work during the year. We value their dedication and the life-saving work you do daily. Ori was killed on duty, in an inconceivable and horrific way, yet fortunately for us she has left behind a legacy of giving, happiness and love, which represents National-Civic Service values over the years. As we will continue to represent in the years to come”.

Head of State Religious Education, Abraham Lipshitz: “The National-Civic Service continues the communal State Religious Education vision: Educating the love of Israel out of personal responsibility and social involvement”.
