Sabine Sterk: Israel’s Strength: Rising Above Pain and Terror
The Unyielding Spirit of Israel Rises Above Pain and Terror:
Pain manifests in many forms—physical and emotional. Physical pain is often measurable; a wound, an illness, or a fever can be seen and quantified. Yet, even physical pain is subjective—some endure agony in silence, while others struggle with the slightest discomfort.
However, emotional pain is far more insidious and difficult to measure. How do you quantify heartbreak, the weight of loneliness, or the trauma of loss? How do you explain the suffering of a people who have faced generations of persecution, only to be vilified for their resilience?
When it comes to Israel, the world seems eager to dismiss Jewish suffering. The relentless propaganda machine of Pallywood dedicates itself to distorting reality—magnifying its own grievances while erasing or trivializing the immense pain and suffering of Jews. It manipulates emotions, demonizes Israel, and fabricates a narrative that paints Palestinians as the ultimate victims while branding Israel as the aggressor. And the world, blinded by bias or ignorance, buys into these falsehoods without question.
Well, to the world, let me make this clear:
- Suffering is growing up without a family because they were exterminated in the Holocaust.
- Suffering is being raised by traumatized parents who survived the Shoah but carry the scars forever.
- Suffering is yearning for a safe homeland after centuries of exile and persecution.
- Suffering is being ridiculed, discriminated against, and excluded simply for being Jewish.
- Suffering is extending a hand in peace only to have it rejected time and time again.
- Suffering is having to defend your existence with your own body because your enemies seek to wipe you out.
- Suffering is mourning a loved one who was murdered simply for being a Jew.
- Suffering is investing in building a thriving nation, only for terrorists to destroy it.
- Suffering is living under the constant threat of rockets, sirens, and terror attacks.
- Suffering is rushing to provide emergency aid worldwide and never receiving acknowledgment.
- Suffering is being unable to walk freely in many parts of the world without facing antisemitism—except in Israel.
- Suffering is driving your car on a highway in the land of your ancestors, only to be rammed and executed in cold blood by a terrorist.
Yesterday, it happened again. A 75-year-old man, an innocent soul, was brutally murdered by a so-called “oppressed Palestinian.” In a just world, there would be universal condemnation. No one would dare justify such an atrocity. Yet, the world remains silent. Worse still, politicians, influencers, and media outlets rush to blame Israel, excusing the actions of cold-blooded killers.
That is pain. That is injustice.
And yet, despite all this, the Jewish people refuse to be broken. Instead of wallowing in victimhood, Israelis choose life. The resilience of this nation is unparalleled. There is no other country where an entire population celebrates when a plane lands with new immigrants, where a stranger will stop everything to help another in need, where innovation flourishes even under constant threat.
Israel leads the world in technology, agriculture, security, medicine, and humanitarian aid. No other nation has contributed so much while receiving so little gratitude in return.
Israel, a country forged through unimaginable suffering, has built itself into a beacon of progress and hope. Israel, the only place on earth where Jews can truly be free.
Am Yisrael Chai – The Nation of Israel Lives.
