Rabbi Nosson Rodin – Israel Moves Me

Rabbi Nosson Rodin – Israel Moves Me

My name is Rabbi  Natan Rodiblbn I was born in Montreal and raised in Ottawa Canada. It was my lifelong dream to live in Israel, as a child my most prized possession was a puzzle of the Western Wall.

Dreams come true and with the help of the Almighty, I met and married my wife Miriam in Jerusalem.

My wife and I have devoted our lives and the lives of our family to the singular purpose of serving the young people in Karmiel Israel.

Nothing can compare to the expression on Adi a student of engineerings face when I brought her hot soup as she was studying for exams and down with the flu.

Or the feeling of calm that E.r. felt when I gave him three hugs.

You see he was unable to go home for shabbos because his mother who experienced trauma in her life was self-mutilating and blaming it on him.

And although he is a brilliant genius the exams were just too emotionally challenging for him.

Those three hugs and the weekly Shabbat dinners gave him the support he needed.

The deep connection that developed between me Y. And G two Russian immigrant students who served in the IDF and who were unable to even support themselves and were eating dry bread. With the help of really caring people, I was able to provide for them hot meals for free almost every day from the local canteen. I remember today the look of incredulity when we invited them to our home it was so strange for them to experience the love of a stranger, they became our family.

You see, with all the success that exists in Israel there are those which fall to the sidelines, and there are many who although being materially successful have a very painful lack of knowledge in their traditions and faith.

So the take them away message from this article is the following. In your community or your circle of friends no matter how successful they may be. There are always those which fall along the sidelines that need special support love and care and are waiting for someone to be there for them, this Hanukkah you can be that person.

This Hanukkah we will personally be delivering your love and care to thousands of students here in Israel.

Here is more information about this wonderful project helping Israeli youth.

Chabad Youth of Karmiel is devoted to providing culture, community, and support for the student body and at-risk youth of the Galilee periphery. Our primary focus are the students of the Ort Braude college of Engineering. We provide economic relief, community support and empower Jewish identity.

Located in Karmiel in upper Galilee, the Ort Braude college boasts a student body of 4500, a majority of whom are Russian and Ethiopian immigrants, as well as Druze and Arab minorities. These receive the unprecedented opportunity to build strong families and healthy communities. They will join the leaders of Israel’s start-up nation revolution. Over eighty per cent of graduates are directly hired by Israel’s booming hi-tech industries.

Rabbi Nosson and Miriam Rodin have dedicated their lives to invigorating the Jewish people. Chabad Youth of Karmiel’s programs are a distillation of 7 years of their proven success as directors of youth programming for the Jewish community in Beijing.

Our dream is to see each graduate enjoying their own Shabbat dinner with their spouse, children and guests. Another link in the golden chain.
