“The group is composed of five performers who write, sing and play live hip-hop and reggae music. Four of the band members are Ethiopian Israelis and all are Israeli immigrates absorbed in Natanya.
The group created music together while growing up together, born and raised in Kiryat Nordo in Natanya, in difficult socio-economic conditions, the group members created music together in the neighborhood. Since the opening of the “Sellcum Volume” recording studio in Natanya their dream has come true and they formed the official group Strong Black Coffee and began to record and perform professionally all over the country.
Today the group is performing all over Israel with Israel’s leading musicians such as Hadag Nahash, Eli Luzon and many more. They have been featured in top rated TV programs including multiple sets as a featured group on the Israeli Idol TV hit- Kohav Nolad. Currently they are recording their first album and releasing their first radio hit and music video.”
“Strong Black Coffee group is a brilliant, fascinating and exiting manifest of Israeli absorption and multiculturalism. The group has proven to Israeli youth and adults the possibility of making dreams come true regardless of socio-economic barriers of any sort.
Today Strong Black Coffee is a major rising Israeli hit, attracting attention from all channels of popular media, acclaimed artists, and fans of all ages.
In their music they rap out in Hebrew their life stories, dreams, love and desire for a better future while sampling Ethiopian melodies and Amharic texts. Their performance is a thrilling and heart warming music blast of positive energy and hope.
The group has performed and received standing ovations from the Israeli Prime Minister, the Minister of Education, American students from all over US, and leading Israeli professionals.
Strong Black Coffee consider themselves on a mission to perform all over Israel, especially in its peripheral areas, in order to stage their immigration and absorption stories, manifest their culture and spread hope through music.
They are exited as they continue to voice their mind, music and life stories in celebration of Israel’s 60th anniversary together with Jewish communities all over the world.”
