Young Arab and Jewish Youth – Jeruslaem Goes Basketball Crazy

By Moshe Cohen Every summer, the municipal complex at Safra Square gets re-purposed for two days as a giant basketball venue for young Jewish and Arab players.  Former Maccabi Tel Aviv star player Tal Brody was on hand for Jerusalem’s 16th annual Streetball Tournament, in addition to some 1,000 Jewish and Arab basketball enthusiasts, as City Hall’s Safra Square was transformed into 16 basketball courts recently.

“I think it’s great to come to Jerusalem every time they have the three-on-three tournament. It’s the most veteran tournament in Israel,” says Brody. “You can see a lot of young players, boys and girls, coming to show what they can do.”

In addition to hundreds of matches, spectators from all over enjoyed an exhibition game pitting members of Knesset against well-known Israeli basketball players.
