UNPACKED – Deni Avdija – The Top Israeli NBA Draft 2020 Prospect
Kobe. Lebron. Kawhi. Giannis… Deni?
Okay, so you might not have heard of him (yet) but 19-year-old Israeli Deni Avdija could well be the next big thing in the best basketball league in the world — the NBA.
Coming from a country that isn’t exactly a basketball powerhouse (sorry Omri Caspi), that’s a big claim, but this is one player with the stats to back up his hoop dreams.
Deni celebrated gold-winning performances at the 2018 and 2019 under-20 championships, he was named the youngest MVP in the tournament’s history last year and was also Player of the Month in the Israeli Premier league in January.
He’s also got the razor-sharp focus, determination and work ethic needed to make it to the top of the big leagues.
But how did Deni become one of the top prospects in the upcoming 2020 NBA draft and why is he so determined to represent Israel when he could have gained more experience elsewhere?
In this week’s explainer, we’re telling you everything you need to know about Deni.
Future NBA star. Proud Israeli. You heard it here first.
