This week on Unpacked, we are kicking off our new six-part series The Israeli-Palestinian Context.
Over the next six episodes, we will tackle one of the most important and timely questions facing the Jewish world today: Why has it become so challenging to be proud of Zionism?
Over the last decade, a desire to distill our ideas into soundbites has washed away much of the nuanced complexity of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and has created a story that largely ignores the wholeness of the conflict’s history.
With a history that is painful across the spectrum, and on all sides, the goal of this series is to pave the way to a foundation built on fact and objectivity around Israel’s story and to help us get comfortable with what it means to be a Jew and Zionist today.
From global movements to college campuses, the intersection of progressivism and Zionism is one where nothing is black or white. In the complex political and social climate of the world today, the lines between fact and opinion have become increasingly blurred. One of those “gray zones” lies at the heart of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. What does it mean to be a proud Jewish Zionist in today’s liberal spaces?
