This Week’s Sanity Report from Israel Feb. 13, 2022
This week’s newsletter will hopefully give you a good sense of Israel’s positive impact on the world. Medical innovations to sense the early onset of Alzheimer’s, Covid-19, and kidney stones. A breakthrough that can restore the senses to the paralyzed. And how an insensitive doctor inspired an Israeli girl to achieve international acclaim. An Israeli scientist won a major prize for her nano-magnetic sensors. And an Israel composer’s sensitive Jubilee music had an emotional effect on the UK Royal family. Israelis use sound to help the blind “see” shapes and videos to help educate teenagers. And an Israeli telescope will help astronomers see far across the Universe. Finally, read how sensitive Israeli volunteers ease the loneliness felt by Holocaust survivors.
The photo (TY Sharon) is of the sculpture “Jerusalem the Center of the World” by David Breuer in Teddy Park, Jerusalem. See if you can spot the photographer.
the highlights include:
- Israeli scientists can predict and treat Alzheimer’s before symptoms occur.
- An Israeli 3D-printed spinal implant gives hope to the paralyzed.
- An Israeli was commissioned to compose music for Queen Elisabeth’s Jubilee.
- An Israeli discovery could help end the plagues of locusts.
- Two Israeli schoolboys develop app to help teens learn.
- Merck adopts Israeli medication “testing on a chip” technology.
- House excavated in Jerusalem stood at the same time as the 1st Temple.
ISRAEL’S MEDICAL ACHIEVEMENTS
Alzheimer’s breakthrough. Tel Aviv University scientists have identified pathological activity in the brain that precedes initial Alzheimer’s symptoms by many years.
