Every year, twice a year, more than 500 million birds fly across Israel on a long, exhausting journey to and from winter sheltering spots – one of the busiest migration routes in the world. It’s a perilous journey and as one man discovered it holds dangers not just for the birds, but for people too. Israeli scientist Yossi Leshem is one of the world’s foremost experts on bird migration. It was his deep love of them as a child that inspired him to devote his lifetime to creating a safer environment for birds and people worldwide. In the latest in the iMMERSE series, a joint production of ISRAEL21c and the iCenter, we take a look at Leshem’s incredible story, and create a compelling educator’s guide and accompanying video that will inspire and excite youngsters everywhere.
