Rohit Agarwal – 5 Favorite Destinations of Israelis In India
More than 30,000 Israelis visit India each year. India has all the natural wonders and urban amenities that a tourist could ask for. The laid-back Indian culture is quite relaxing for the Israelis and they also get all the freedom, approval, recognition, and space they want here.
Fatigued after the military service, a majority of Israeli tourists (mostly between the ages of 20 to 24) travel to the coastal Goa villages, and the remote and serene Himalayan villages. These travel destinations offer solace, peace, and much more to the Israeli tourists.

Located amidst the beautiful Kullu hills of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, Kasol is a town with natural peace and tranquility, which soothes many Israelis soldiers who have just completed their military service. The Himalayan village also offers trekking and has always been a hippie paradise. More than 70% of the foreign tourists, who reach the place, are Israelis. No wonder, the place has lots delicious Israeli food to offer as well.
- Pushkar
The legendary Indian city Pushkar is located in Ajmer, a district in the state of Rajasthan). Apart from the spiritual thirst of some tourists, Pushkar also has the camel rides, jungle safaris, and lakes that the Israelis enjoy. Many signposts here are in the Hebrew language, as Pushkar has always been a favourite for the Israeli soldiers and veterans. Chabad House is the community center for the Jewish tourists in the region. Restaurants have menus in English and Hebrew, and dishes like Cinnamon cakes, and the Moussakas, are luring for the Israeli tourists.
- Goa

Thousands of Israelis flock Goa each year to this seashore destination. Some enjoy their psychedelic post-army escapade here. Goa is like a mini out-post for the Jewish state today, with a number of cafes, restaurants and resorts owned by the Israelis themselves. Every menu in Goa has the Israeli food (including the Israeli Salad, and the Schnitzel). There is lots of music, and even bhaang (the Indian marijuana) that offer the Israeli MOTs and tourists a break. Many locals in Goa speak Hebrew (like in Pushkar or Kasoli), and the cultural bonds are quite deep now. You will find that the local shops have the Hebrew signs.

Apart from spirituality, Rishikesh also offers white water rafting, bungee jumping, mountain biking, kayaking, rock climbing, zip lining, and other adventures that are hard to resist.

The Andaman Islands still preserve their natural beauty in their purest form. The Havelock Island is particularly favored as a holiday destination by the Israelis. Here in this isolated place it is easy to relax and enjoy this vacation experience. There is no internet on the Island just the pleasure of being surrounded nature. Sea diving, indulgence in the white sandy beache , and rare and exotic dishes (the delicious seafood curries, among others), are some of the pleasures of the Island that the people of Israel love to explore and devour.
Jews have been living in India for the past 2000 years. The Indian government and population openly support the Jewish population and have always been welcoming to them. India travel itinerary is full of contrasts and has something to offer for every Jewish/Israeli travel taste.
