Something bad is happening to the Left. Of course, they have full right to their stances, and I don’t mind the personal attacks against me (hey there Zahava), [from IsraelSeen:Please note that Zahava Gal-On is a member of left-wing Meretz party] but their attempts to side with the Palestinians at all costs have become the only thing which they bring to the political table.
At one time they were not relevant. Now they are not connected to reality.
Because if Abu Mazen lies, he is not doing so because of suffering or ‘the occupation.’ Rather, it’s because he is a liar who tries to hurt Israel’s standing in the world.
And if a female Palestinian terrorist tries to stab a female IDF soldier she is not doing so because of the checkpoints. Rather, it’s because she wants to kill Jews because they are Jews.
And if the soldier in response shoots and kills the terrorist, she is not doing so because she is part of the ‘occupation.’ Rather it’s because she is defending her life from the terrorist and because she does not want to die.
And if Palestinian youth try to kill youth their own age in the streets, they are not doing so because garbage trucks don’t come on time in East Jerusalem or because their schools lack budgets. Rather it is because someone brainwashed them on the social networks with horrific incitement in which Jews are compared to monkeys and pigs and they are called to kill innocent civilians.
And if the international press covers all this up in a clearly inappropriate manner, it is not because there truly is apartheid here. Rather it is because they are afflicted with anti-Semitism and not a small amount of superficiality.
The call from Zahava and her colleagues to understand the other side is an egotistical call. It assumes that all, except for them of course, don’t understand what is truly happening here.
But we understand quite well, thank you. What is happening here is terrorism with knives running wild, resulting from incitement that knows no bounds. Against this terror there must be a political solution but it must be based on a reading of the situation as it is and not on imaginary Palestinian creations that do not truly exist.
I believe that we must separate from the Palestinians with the IDF continuing to function in all areas in order to provide security for Israeli citizens. The time has come for a divorce from the Palestinians and to place a large wall between us – not because they are the good guys in this story but because they are the bad guys.
