Lee Diamond – The Inextinguishable SPARK
Buried deep
In every Jewish soul
Beams a spark
Inextinguishable
Yet Ever present
Drenched by distance
Dried by starvation
Parched by desert winds
lacking in sustaining
Waters
In every generation
Some Seeking to destroy it
From without or
Within
By hostility
By Self dismissal
Or self hate
The prophets of doom
Mourn for It
The full bodied Jews
Deny its relevance
The very distant
Are unaware
Of its presence
But like the
Master of the Universe
Though hidden at times
Remains aflame
Refusing extinction
That spark
That flame
That fire
created
With life
is the fuel
That energizes
The Jew
It is the spark
Of the bush
That burns
But is never
Consumed
Within every Jew
Try as they might
Try as we might
It is God’s
Eternal Flame
“Let there be light”
