Lee Diamond – Lech Lecha לך לך
There was no push
It was only a pull
Life was good there
But life promised to
Be better here.
The old new land
The old new language
The old new people
The old new culture
Who leaves the “Goldene Medina”
Of one’s father and mother
For Medinat Yisrael ?
Only a passionate Jewish soul
Only one who loved the new Jew
Only one who took great pride
In a dynamic new way of living as a Jew
Only one who was captivated by
The idea of truly living the prophets
Message of Justice, Justice, you shall seek!
לך לך
A better society
An attempt at a Jewish utopia
Climbing like Jacob
The ladder of Israel
Once again
And never relinquishing the climb
לך לך
The dream was of peace
Shalom was not just a greeting
But life itself
We toiled with the founders
To build a better Jew
A better state
A quest and thirst for peace,
לך לך
It was exciting to be part of the quest
To watch our nation climb
And renew
No challenge was too great
No goal too lofty
לך לך
Yes we believed we could have
Peace
We marched for peace
We even compromised
For Shalom
We actually retreated for peace
We were in reach of peace
לך לך
And then we fled
From peace
Because we reverted to being the old Jew
Afraid of risks
No longer the Jew
Who created a State of Israel
After 2,000 years
Of prayers
Out of תהו ובהו
Out of Null and void
And now they tell us
That if you still seek
Both peace and a better society
If you still believe in the dreams
Of the generation of the Giants
And not that of the dwarfs
That we are treasonous
And may have our citizenship removed
It may be time
For the dwarfs to
Reconsider לך לך
Get Thee
Out of power.
Let the dreamers dream again
Let us to continue to renew the
Jewish spirit
לך לך
That captured our spirit
That brought us
And that inspired us
And still does.
לך לך
If we are the current dreamers, let us act like them
And “just do it”
אם תרצו אין זו אגדה
If we will it, it will happen
