The 16 best ideas were chosen by Microsoft and its partner in the project, Appleseeds Academy, an organization dedicated to using high-tech to help disadvantaged youth and adults.
Beit Issie Shapiro’s tablet app, ‘IssiePlay, was chosen as the winner by the panel, which included Israeli Minister of Science, Technology and Space, Yaakov Perry.
IssiePlay is an imaginative game with accessibility features for children with disabilities.  The app is available to download for free worldwide on the Microsoft app store.
Microsoft spokesperson Hagar Kustianovsky said. “This project combines technology, social value, and voluntarism, and is primarily designed to channel the knowledge and skills of youth to these values — and will benefit not only them, but the rest of society.”
Jean Judes, Executive Director of Beit Issie Shapiro said, “We are sharing our knowledge with professionals nationwide and globally through our advisory role to the U.N. Being able to play a game independently is a huge step for a child with a disability, and can provide parents with respite, and can help children bond with their siblings and friends.”
