Jerusalem – Destination on a Budget

Even though the last few years of economic downturn have meant penny pinching for many people around the world, traveling is back in vogue. Of course, globe-trotters have to do some crafty budgeting in order to balance out the rising cost of airline tickets while still having a great time at their destination.

A popular way to save money while traveling is to visit destinations that are a little off the beaten path – for example, Jerusalem. While Jerusalem may not be as popular as Hawaii, Paris, or the Caribbean, the city is filled with so much history that even the most experienced travelers will keep busy for days, if not weeks.

Jerusalem is rapidly growing as a tourist destination which means every year the city works to offer more safety, sites, transportation, and accommodations for travelers. For example, a great hostel in Jerusalem recently opened in 2010. The European style backpacker, named Abraham Hostel, offers the backpacker accommodations that so many world travelers have come to enjoy including great prices, a range of rooms, tours, events, night life, and a fun community environment which brings together like minded people to experience the city of Jerusalem. While Western Europe, Eastern Asia, and the Australasia areas are more common places for backpackers and world-travelers to visit, the Middle East is working to join these ranks by offering quality accommodation in amazing cities.

Jerusalem is also welcoming travelers by offering more tours of the city. Abraham hostel itself actually offers a range of amazing Jerusalem tours for all different interests and budgets. Popular tours include excursions which visit the many Biblical landmarks in the city, food tours of the markets and phenomenal local cuisine, and much more. Additionally, many landmark sites are easy to visit on as a solo traveler including Robinson’s Arch and archaeological gardens, the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, the Western Wall, the Jerusalem Museum, and many more.

The City of Jerusalem is quickly becoming a tourist destination which is listed up with the must-see cities in the world. Established in 4000 A.D., the city has been a gathering region for multiple cultures for centuries and this unique history makes it an ideal place to visit for gap year students, backpackers, groups, singles, families, and anyone else interested in seeing a truly one-of-a-kind city. With the growth of tours and budget accommodation like Abraham Hostel, Jerusalem is an excellent place to visit for people looking for a great experience without the high price.
