Jack Cohen – To Stop a Pandemic All Borders must be Controlled
The main way to prevent a worldwide pandemic of the coronavirus is for countries to be able to close their borders. There is a report that the EU countries are beginning to do this, although closing their borders makes a mockery of the EU Schengen agreement for open borders, and indeed calls into question the whole basis of the EU. It is a liberal tenet that there should be free movement of people as well as capital. However, the mass migration of poor people from the east and south into the developed western world results in severe problems for its economic viability. It also poses dangers to health due to the spread of diseases. To prevent the migration of millions and the spread of deadly viruses, sovereign countries must be able to close their borders!
To illustrate the need for this pragmatic ability, most countries closed their borders to the Chinese as soon as the threat of the coronavirus was known. In these days such a move is relatively easy, just stop all flights from China. But, there are other means of entry, including by foot across borders. Where there are specific border entry points that can also be managed. But, as an illustration of the idiocy of the Democratic Left in the US considers the southern US border.
Tens of thousands of people cross the Mexican border illegally every day. But, they are not only Mexicans, but there are also Central Americans from Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and El Salvador and people from further afield. For example, it is estimated that ca. 12,000 Chinese use this route to enter the US illegally every year. They pay the gangs who bring people into the US tens of thousands of dollars. Now the Democrats who are firmly against any effective border wall, want to transfer the money set aside for building the Wall to use for the coronavirus prevention program! This is totally idiotic, if you cannot stop a porous border that tens of thousands of people enter uncontrolled every day, there is no point in having a coronavirus program. Such is the nonsense of the liberal-leftist fantasy of free movement of people. All immigration must be controlled and only legal aliens must be allowed to enter and under conditions of a pandemic, no uncontrolled movement of undocumented aliens can be allowed, period!
