Israelseen welcomes Jay Garfinkel and his new Israel History Today web site. It is his dream and labor of love and we look forward to reading his insights about our country’s history.
Monthly web magazine of Israel’s military, diplomatic, and covert operations history from ancient to modern times.
Israel History Today was born of the idea that news is often polarizing and ephemeral and what was lost in news reporting from Israel and the Middle East is historical context. With hundreds of journalist transiting in and out of Israel for short periods of time there is often no understanding of the region being covered much less the context in which events occur.
Israel History Today was launched to fill that void. It premiers on April 1, 2016 as a monthly web based magazine of Israel’s military, diplomatic, and covert operations history from ancient to modern times. It features video programs, podcasts, photography and book reviews.

Jay Garfinkel is a broadcast journalist and media executive. He was managing director of WorldNet the Television division of the Voice of America during the last three years of the Cold War during the Reagan administration.
While primarily a business and financial journalist, after 9-11 Garfinkel produced and wrote a weekly television and radio program, Danger Zone, that focused exclusively on military, defense, diplomacy, terrorism and national security issues. Danger Zone was syndicated on radio in the US on Sirius XM radio and in Europe on British Sky Radio. It was produced as a television series broadcast on Comcast and Time Warner Cable television stations.
After making Aliyah to Israel in 2014, Garfinkel continued writing television programs but his attention turned from exclusively writing broadcast news journalism stories to programs that provided historical context.
