Israel Day 8: Operation Protective Edge Against Hamas

The Hamas Spokesman has been very vocal during Operation Protective Edge. His words reveal the sinister way in which Hamas abuses its citizens by intentionally putting them in harm’s way.

Operation Protective Edge

Since the start of Operation Protective Edge, over 1,081 rockets have been fired towards Israel. Of them 845 hit Israel and 191 have been intercepted by the Iron Dome missile defense system. The IDF has targeted over 1,576 terror targets, with both naval and aerial capabilities.

Lt. Col. Peter Lerner explains the difficulties Israel faces in its struggle against the Hamas terror organization. While the IDF obligates itself to abide by international law and makes a huge effort to minimize civilian casualties, Hamas intentionally puts the Palestinian population in harm’s way while attacking Israeli civilians.

Throughout Operation Protective Edge, the IDF has called off airstrikes in Gaza due to the presence of civilians near the target. The IDF is doing all it can to minimize harm to civilians during the operation despite Hamas’ use of human sheilds. To watch three separate instances of IDF aircrafts calling off strikes.
