Fighting the hypocrisy of the U N Human Rights Council
A coalition of pro-Israel organizations from across Europe and Israel will protest outside the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva while the council discusses a series of anti-Israel resolutions.
The demonstration will take place on Monday 21st March 2016 at 13:00 opposite the Palais des Nations where the United Nations Human Rights Council meets in Geneva
Member of Knesset Yair Lapid will be the headline speaker.
Member of Knesset Yair Lapid said, “The UN Human Rights Council lost its legitimacy long ago. While hundreds of thousands are killed and millions displaced in Syria, while terrorists are beheading people and forcing women into slavery in Iraq, while millions of people can only dream of basic freedoms, the UN Human Rights Council has condemned Israel more times than the rest of the world combined. I initiated this demonstration because the UN Human Rights Council is no longer fit for purpose to protect human rights. We will go to Geneva, hundreds of supporters of Israel from across Europe to demonstrate against the hypocrisy and disproportionately of the UN Human Rights Council.”
Hundreds of supporters of Israel from across Europe will come together in Geneva to protest against the hypocrisy of the United Nations Human Rights Council and its bias against Israel. The protest is being organized to coincide with the council’s discussions of a series of anti-Israel resolutions. Since its creation, 10 years ago, the UN Human Rights Council has written more resolutions against Israel than the rest of the world combined, a fact which points to the failure of the council to fulfill its role in an objective and effective manner.
Member of Knesset Yair Lapid, who is one of the leaders of the fight for Israel’s standing in the world, will be the keynote speaker. He will be joined by European parliamentarians and witnesses from Israel who will share their personal stories. The demonstration is by a coalition of pro-Israel organizations who want to raise their voices in response to the ongoing hypocrisy of the United Nations Human Rights Council and the disproportionate, unjust focus on Israel. The coalition includes the Israel Allies Foundation, StandWithUs, Swiss-Israel Friendship Association, European Union of Jewish Students, World Union of Jewish Students, World Zionist Organization and others.
