Exclusive – United Hatzalah Volunteers Donate Six Tons of Food To Needy Families in Carmel Region

United Hatzalah volunteers from the Carmel region once again organized their annual “Kimcha DePischa” food drive and helped to organize the collection of foods for Pesach/Passover to be handed out to needy members of their communities.

United Hatzalah volunteers gathered more than six tons of fruits and vegetables, eggs, matzot, and other essential items for the holiday. These items were donated by the community at large as well as business owners in Haifa and other towns in the area. As part of organizing the food drive, United Hatzalah volunteers from Haifa and the area will now embark upon delivering the food to families in need in Haifa, the Krayot region and the Carmel region, prior to the start of the Holiday this coming Friday.

Regional Director of United Hatzalah for the Carmel area Naftali Rotenberg said: “This year we merited once again to add on to our annual food drive and provide much-needed assistance to families in our communities. With the help of the donors and our partners, we were able to add new families who are in need of assistance to our list of those we provide food before the holiday. Thanks to the plethora of donations, this year, these new families will also get the food they need to fill their tables and celebrate the holiday.”

President of United Hatzalah Eli Beer said: “Our volunteers teamed up with the donors and businesses in the community to help other members of their community celebrate the holiday with dignity. While our volunteers normally help their fellow community members during medical emergencies, at this time of year, when the whole nation celebrates together, our volunteers go above and beyond the call of duty to make sure that those in need have what to eat as well. I want to thank each and every one of the volunteers and donors for making this possible and for making the holiday of Pesach one of freedom for these families in need. Our volunteers come from a community, help a community, and together, we make a community.”
