Once again Tel Aviv brings you the Innovation Festival that should inspire every want-to-be entrepreneur. Here are just some of the events available. Many of these events are FREE. Enjoy. Participate !
And this year the organizers are trying to make it even more accessible for everyone in Tel Aviv! What does that mean? At 2,000 NIS, the tickets for the conference (on Tuesday-Wednesday 8-9 September) itself are outside the price range of most people – but there are loads of free events going on throughout the week, including:
- The Cities Summit – a conference organised by the Iryah about how to promote innovation in cities.
- Open Startup – an opportunity to visit the offices of some of Tel Aviv’s best startups.
- The DLD Urban Happening – 30 meetups around Rothschild, including a panel discussion with Secret Tel Aviv’s Jonny Stark.
- Tel Aviv Makers Zone – cool inventions by crazy maker nerds displayed down Rothschild.
- Pick a Startup – loads of startups vie for the prestige of being best-startup – can they wow the audience in less than one minute?!
- Garage Geeks Meets the Leaders – its hunting season, some of Israel’s top hi-tech CEOs will be available to answer your questions.
Cities Summit Tel Aviv: Cracking the Innovation Code

The Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality invites entrepreneurs, politicians, city counselors, and other senior urban administrators to join forces and come together for an opportunity to share their experiences on how to promote innovation in their cities. Speakers include mayors and/or deputy mayors of Tel Aviv, Amsterdam, Paris and London, plus loads of other great speakers.

1. The Hive Presents Globalisation of Entrepreneurship – 7pm @ Pasaz
Join us in a fascinating discussion on why immigrants make the best entrepreneurs. TheHive by Gvahim, a startup accelerator program for new immigrants and returning Israeli citizens, in collaboration with Secret Tel Aviv, a social network for Tel Avivians, will lead two panel discussions over beer.

3. Culinary Meetup: How technology impacts the food production chain & dining experience – 7pm-9pm @ Taylor Made
Culinary Tech DLD meetup brings entrepreneurs, investors, chefs, food artisans and advertisers together to discuss taking fooding to the next level by applying technology to the existing industry. Currently, we are experiencing a transformation within the culinary industry, hoping to gain a better understanding of how technology impacts the chain of food production and provides solutions to improve the food system and the overall dining experience. As a result, there has been a massive influx within the industry, ranging from culinary startups, food technology innovators, big data, apps designed to inform food-conscious consumers, investments and software to help improve margins – this explosion is disrupting and changing how food is produced, distributed, sold and consumed.
4. FinTech Aviv Meetup – 7pm @ Radio EPGB
Shmooze and mingle with game-changing Israeli and visiting FinTech entrepreneurs, meet investors with cheque books and brainstorm with budding talent in the ecosystem.
5. LGBT DLD Yearly Event – 7.30pm @ Flame Bar
This special event is welcoming the local community, friends and guests from abroad coming to the conference. The event would include both networking and sessions about start-ups.

An event open to the general public – enjoy an experience of art, the culture of digital innovation and technology.
- Augmented Reality – an animation game that can only be seen if scanned on a cell phone
- Art – works of digital art that incorporate cutting-edge technology
- Fashion Tech – a display of wearable tech: fashion, accessories, and smart materials
- Makers Fair – a presentation of products made by local designers, developers and startups
- Teens as Entrepreneurs – an exhibition of technological ventures developed by teenagers from around Israel
- Mix the City – interactive, musical and Tel Avivian performance art by the artist Kutiman
- An Exhibit of Science Fiction Posters – famous scenes from popular movies are depicted against the backdrop of Tel Aviv-Yafo landscapes
Garage Geeks – Meet the Leaders

If you haven’t heard of Garage Geeks – you should do! Yossi Vardi’s pet project, every time a CEO or similar from a major hi-tech company comes to Israel, Yossi get them down to his warehouse for an informal Q&A, open to everyone.
Expanding on this, the DLD Garage Geeks will include many top business leaders answering questions from the crowd. Registration is required, you can register here.

Le French Tech Meets The Startup Nation

Not officially part of DLD, but piggy-backing off the festival spirit, Pitch Night is the place where French Tech meets the Israeli Tech! Either you are a French or Israeli startup that want to shine, an early-stage investor, an innovation expert, or even just curious about technology and innovation, this event is for you. French investor Jeremie Berrebi will be in attendance.

DLD Conference

A prestigious international festival and conference dealing with innovation, digital media, science and culture, which brings together business people, social leaders, opinion leaders, and investors.
The conference aims to lay the groundwork for future innovations and technological developments, offering professionals and senior executives in the global hi-tech industry a platform for exchanging ideas and networking.
There will speakers from around the world, startups and delegations from Japan, China, Turkey, Russia, France and South Korea. Companies such as Google, Intel, Microsoft, Amazon and IBM will also take part.

Tel Aviv’s Most Innovative Competition
Start Tel Aviv is a global competition held by The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Tel Aviv Global that brings together technology startups from 21 different countries around the world to compete for the opportunity to take part in an intense, five-day startup experience in Tel Aviv’s unrivaled startup ecosystem.
Start Tel Aviv 2015 is currently underway! Competitions are being running simultaneously in 21 different countries. This is the fourth annual competition where founders from around the world are competing against startups from their own country for the prize of an all-expense paid, five day bootcamp in Tel Aviv. Last year, there were 16 winners who came from all over the world.

Open Startup
Are you a tech nerd looking for new life-changing developments, or simply interested in the various products and services that the nonstop city has to offer? Open Startup is a unique event that provides the general public with access to dozens of startups throughout the city and gives visitors a behind-the-scenes peek into one of the world’s most active innovation hubs.
Guests will be able to appreciate the accessibility and knowledge of the most credible entrepreneurs coming from a wide range of companies. These influential entrepreneurs will present visitors with the products they are developing, share their experiences, and talk about how they intend to change our lives on a broader scale.
