Daniel Goldschmidt – Did the world not know?
When 128 members of the United Nations Assembly voted for the resolution not to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Only 9 voted against, and 35 abstained.
Did they not know that:
*Jerusalem became the capital of the state of the Jewish people during the reign of King David around 1000 BCE which is 3000 years ago. It is one of the most ancient capitals of the world.
*The Jews are the only indigenous people of the land of Israel. They lived in Jerusalem for over 1,600 years prior to the birth of Islam, which occurred in 610BCE.
*Jerusalem appears in the Bible hundreds of time, but it does not appear in the Koran at all. Jews pray toward Jerusalem but Muslims pray toward Mecca with their backs to the Aqsa Mosque.
*The Arabs conquered Jerusalem in 1948 during Israel’s war for independence, despite it being designated as a special international regime by the UN resolution for the partition of Palestine which was never exercised. They reduced the Jewish Quarter to rubble, demolished synagogues, and denied access to the Jews. Under Jordan occupation Jews were not allowed to go to the Kotel which represents the historic connection between the Jewish people and the second temple. In addition they could not occupy Hebrew University founded in 1918, or Hadassah Hospital founded in 1912.
*Jerusalem since the Six Day War of 1967 for 50 years under Israel rule has been an open city to Jews, Christians, Muslims, and all other religions.
*Jerusalem is holy to all Jews but not holy to all Muslims. It is holy to the Sunnis but not the Shiites due to the Sunni dynasty wanting to downplay Mecca’s importance for political reasons in 680CE.
*Jerusalem in fact is the capital of the State of Israel despite whatever any international organization or country states. It is the undivided capital of Israel, under full control of the legitimate State of Israel. Every nation has the right to decide where it’s capital is. The Knesset which is the legislature of Israel, the Supreme Court of Israel, the residences of the Prime Minister and President of Israel are all located there. When a foreign diplomat stationed in Tel Aviv, or foreign dignitary wishes to meet with an Israel official they go to Jerusalem to do so.
We can’t believe United Nations representatives that voted on the resolution not to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel didn’t know. We believe they chose to forget and be cynical.
