My friend Alan Barland just recently passed away. Someone just reminded me of the interview I did with him in Jan. 2009 on the Gaza war. Having known him for more than 30 years I present this re-broadcast in his name. His insights are still timely.
Alan Barland CEO of an international company and former IDF tank commander during the Yom Kippur War, 1973 shares his views on the Gaza war, Arab-Israeli relations, elections and on global Antisemitism.
During the Yom Kippur War Alan served on the Golan Heights.
Barland, Alan Age 66, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2011, in Israel. Alan was the beloved husband of Roz Barland, and father of Segalle (Misgav) Or, Leat (Chaim) Mizrahy, Nomi (Tzahi) Ben Ayoun, Anov Barland, and nine beautiful grandchildren. He is also survived by his father Herbert Barland, sister Marcia (Gene) Laskey, and brother Shawn Barland. He was preceded in death by his mother Florence Barland. Alan spent many years working and living on Kibbutz Gesher Aviv, and fought in three major Israeli wars. He returned to Milwaukee to live and be near his Milwaukee family. But his heart was, and eventually his children were, in Israel. So, he decided to return to live in Israel. He will be sorely missed by his family and many friends.
