By Steve Ornstein. It was a site to behold. I was so proud to be a part of this middle class revolution that gathered in Tel Aviv and around the nation to let the government know that all is not well with the people.
The demonstration took place in the heart of Tel Aviv originating at the Tent city site on Rothchild Blvd.. People from all economic sectors carried signs sharing their discontent with the heavy burden that the middle class and the poor are carrying. While the elite families of Israel, who own many of the cartels and monopolies in all areas of our economic life, charge exorbitant prices resulting in obscene profits. The government fat cats having lost touch with the people and have conspired for years to keep this relationship between the cartels and their self-interests maintained. The free market is not Free. Competition in many of the major areas of industry just doesn’t exist. As a result, the middle class and certainly the working poor have carried the burden of high prices and high taxes for too long and are unwilling to continue with this kind of obscene burden any longer. This protest has broad based support that includes the left, right, religious and secular of our nation.
