UNPACKED – Hamas’s Control Over Gaza
This week on History of Israel Explained, we’re continuing to get to grips with Hamas.
We’re figuring out just why the Palestinian people voted for Hamas over rival party Fatah in the first place, how the party has managed to stay in power for so long and why – despite Israel’s withdrawing from Gaza in 2005 – terrorism continues to dominate the Hamas agenda.
We also tackle the tough subject of the blockade on the Gaza Strip and discuss Israel’s response to the ongoing and ever more creative forms of attack from inside Gaza.
But, we also touch on a teeny, tiny potential glimmer of hope that shows that Hamas might – just might – be beginning to change its stance towards peace.
