In Terezin
In a basement
Hidden from the Nazis
Was a small Shul
Where we gathered
Secretly
Beseeching our God
With tears in our
Eyes and throats
We wrote on the
Walls words of prayer
Or was It
Words of condemnation
“We never forgot
Your Name
Please don’t Forget
US.”
But He Forgot
Yet we continued
To remember
And declared His
Glory
And still do
שמע ישראל ה׳ אלהינו ה׳ אחד
But Why?
