Theodor Acquah – JERUSALEM IS A ‘CUP OF TREMBLING’

This  guest post is from a Christian friend of Israelseen in Ghana

70 years ago President Harry Truman in a similar position back in May of 1948. At midnight on May 14, 1948, the Provisional Government of Israel proclaimed the new State of Israel. On that same date the United States President, Harry Truman, recognized the provisional Jewish government as de facto authority of the new Jewish state

The U.S. Congress, delegates to the U.N. and top-ranking State Department officials were angered that the President, released his recognition statement to the press without notifying them first. On May 15, 1948, the Arab states issued their response statement, and Arab armies invaded Israel, and the first Arab-Israeli war began. Do we think back then the president didn’t know the consequences that will follow after his recognition of the new Jewish State?. The president could have waited and discus it with Congress before recognizing the new state, but it did not happen that way. Why? It was God who made Harry Truman to recognize the new nation without notifying Congress.

It was a prophecy being fulfilled. In Isaiah 66:7-8, the prophet (1) foreshadowed the re-birth of Israel, and, just like the Bible says – (2) it happened “in one day.” The woman giving birth before going into labor represents Israel. This accurately describes what happened on May 14, 1948 – when “the world” briefly felt sorry for the Jews and returned Israel to them and they were able to declare independence for Israel as a united and sovereign nation for the first time in 2,900 years.

During that same day, the United States President, Harry Truman issued a statement recognizing Israel’s sovereignty. And, only hours beforehand, a United Nations mandate expired, ending British control of the land. During a 24-hour span of time, foreign control of the land of Israel had formally ceased, and Israel had declared its independence, and its independence was acknowledged by other nations. Modern Israel was born in a single day. This prophecy was fulfilled in Harry Truman’s time.

As the nation of Israel nears the 70-year mark, another prophecy is fulfilled in our time. As  President Trump facing an equally unpleasant decision for recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, most assuredly war is in the making in the Middle East. Truman knew that, and he recognized Israel anyway because the God of Abraham was leading him to do so.

The same God that led Truman to stand for Israel is the same God that is leading Donald Trump to now also stand for Israel.

Arab nations and Palestinian officials warned of dire consequences if the United States recognizes Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, including potential unrest and an end to the peace process, amid last-minute lobbying to prevent President Trump from making a move.

Jordan’s foreign minister, Ayman Safadi, warned Secretary of State Rex Tillerson that such a decision could “trigger anger across the Arab and Muslim world, fuel tension and jeopardize peace efforts,” according to Jordan’s state news agency.

And of all the strong warnings to President Trump from stopping him from making that move, he went ahead and recognized Jerusalem as the capital of the Jewish State. Don’t we think that President Trump knew the consequences aftermath? He did, but this was God again. Why? Another prophecy is about to be fulfilled.

President Trump ran a great campaign in 2016, no doubt, but that’s not why he won the election. All the cute nicknames he gave people made for great utterances, but that’s not why he won the election. His promise to make America great again was really good, but again, that was not why he won. The reason he won the elections was that, a prophecy through him was about to be fulfilled. The prophecy in the Bible teaches that a new temple which will be called The Third Temple will be built in the future. The First Temple was the one that Solomon built and which was destroyed in 586 BC. The Second Temple (516 BC to 70 AD) was built after the Jews returned from Babylonian captivity. Now a third Solomon Temple is about to be built.

Prophecy of a rebuilt third temple and its measurements are found in Ezekiel 40:3-49  and Revelation chapter 11. In Ezekiel, God gives the entire measurements in details. Revelation written by Apostle John reveals specific prophecy about the outer court. Apostle John was given a measuring reed to measure the temple

Rev 11:1: And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, ‘Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein.’

Apostle John does not give us the measurements, but earlier on, God revealed them to Ezekiel 40:3-49

Rev 11:2: But the court which is outside the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.

President Trump won the election because of his promise to move the US Embassy to Jerusalem, and by doing so, to proclaim to the entire world that undivided Jerusalem is the capital of Israel. Truly that’s what the Bible says Jerusalem is also. The God of Abraham gave him the victory, and now he needs to keep the promise he made during his campaign.

Harry S. Truman trusted in God and against all the odds declared Israel’s right to exist as a sovereign nation 70 years ago. It was the hardest decision he ever made and people hated him for it and warned him not to do it. War immediately broke out after he did. President Trump, also trusts God, it is, and it is his turn to be a great leader by making a very unpopular decision but a decision that has God’s complete blessing attached to it.

It is for “such a time as this” that Trump is made the leader of the free world, Mr. President, do what you were put here to do.

Now This is the word of the Lord concerning Jerusalem, as a matter of fact, Israel. The Lord, who stretches out the Heavens who lays the foundations of the earth, and who forms the spirit of man within him declares:

Zec 12:2  Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem.

Zec 12:3  And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.

Zec 12:4  In that day, saith the LORD, I will smite every horse with astonishment, and his rider with madness: and I will open mine eyes upon the house of Judah, and will smite every horse of the people with blindness.

Zec 12:5  And the governors of Judah shall say in their heart, The inhabitants of Jerusalem shall be my strength in the LORD of hosts their God.

Zec 12:6  In that day will I make the governors of Judah like an hearth of fire among the wood, and like a torch of fire in a sheaf; and they shall devour all the people round about, on the right hand and on the left: and Jerusalem shall be inhabited again in her own place, even in Jerusalem.
