Israel’s largest indoor food market has opened for business in Tel Aviv. The new Sarona Market, situated in the former German Templer colony of Sarona next to an outdoor shopping center, spans 8,700 square meters (93,646 square feet) and boasts some 90 stores, stands, and restaurants specializing in a variety of produce and cuisines.

The retailers in the market offer a variety of products ranging from cheese, meat and fish to wine, pasta, vegetables and other items, as well as raw material. Restaurants and other dining facilities comprise some 30% of the complex.

The market’s website calls it “a central place where you can experience the full intensity of all the flavors the contemporary Israeli culinary scene has to offer, under one roof.” It also details the products: “A gourmet and consumer product market featuring imported cheeses from across the globe, premium balsamic vinegar from Italy, fresh seafood from the Atlantic Ocean, French champagne and spices from the Far East along with the best local produce — fruit and vegetables from Emek Hefer and the Arava, lamb and veal from the Golan Heights, fresh fish from the Mediterranean Sea, local wines, boutique beer, chocolates and hand-made pastries.”

The market includes businesses that currently operate in the Mahane Yehuda Market in Jerusalem and the Carmel Market in Tel Aviv, as well as other leading establishments.

“The variety and diversity of businesses guarantees competition in prices in quality, and customers will have many options to choose from in a variety of different categories,” said complex manager Sharon Muman. “The wide spectrum means that everyone can find the products they need, according to their tastes and resources.”

Muman said the complex’s three-story underground parking facility can accommodate 411 cars.
