Nancy Edid - My journey to OurCrowd

My journey to OurCrowd: An investment in the Startup Nation is an investment in its people. It seemed like fate was involved in my journey to joining one of the most driven teams in Israel.

Nancy Edid – My journey to OurCrowd

Let’s start in 2013, when I was sitting alongside 10,000 other pro-Israel activists at the AIPAC Policy Conference in Washington D.C., watching as Daniel Webb, who sustained a spinal cord injury, stood up on his feet and walked. He was using ReWalk, an exoskeleton that gives paraplegics the ability to stand, walk, and climb. The Israeli technology powering this device blew me away.

Fast-forward two years. I began working for OurCrowd, the world’s leading equity-based crowdfunding platform which was involved in funding the ReWalk device. The inspiration I felt that day, while I watched Daniel walk, was mirrored in what I felt the first day I joined the team at OurCrowd.

On any given day, as you step into the office, look straight ahead and you might see a presentation to a visiting group of Chinese delegates. To your left, you might find a startup pitching their groundbreaking technology. To your right, the team is sharing news from the Startup Nation with the investor community.

Continue upstairs, where you’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at more OurCrowd team members making the magic happen. People from around the world are working together here, in the heart of Jerusalem, to provide the global investor community – 8,000 and counting – with opportunities to get involved with amazing technology.

In the Startup Nation, our biggest asset is the people. Teams of professional, driven and focused people are what make this country advance. An example is our co-founder and passionate CEO Jonathan Medved, a serial entrepreneur, venture capitalist, and Israel advocate. Put another way – there’s a reason we sign our company emails “The Team at OurCrowd”.

Leaving the office, you’ll also read it in the news: like the broader tech scene here, OurCrowd is growing at a rapid pace. The company has raised over $120 million in two years, with a portfolio of more than 70 startups based in Israel and beyond. As of now, the company has additional offices in New York, San Diego, Sydney and Tel Aviv.

Second only to Silicon Valley, Israel’s “Startup Nation” culture makes it the place to invest.
