The Great Kite Exhibit: Playing with the wind.

“This exhibition focuses on bright, colorful, and inspiring kites from all periods and all corners of the earth. Kites have served generations in a variety of cultures for prayer, games, combat, competitions, and art. Their beauty is enchanting, as is their design and flight. The exhibition includes hundreds of kites, both kites of yesteryear and contemporary ones. They relate to sports, art, mechanics, music, kites that resemble airplanes, and birds. Some are scary, some funny. The exhibit reviews the history of the kite, shows films, runs a workshop to make and decorate kites, and a special virtual game that makes it possible for both childen and adults to simulate their body in flight. Closes Nov. 8th 2014.”

 

Blossoming with Age:

“Ten thousand exquisite ceramic flowers planted in the mueum by senior citizens from all corners of Israel are exhibited in a huge installation – largest of its kind. Throughout the year hundreds of participants made flowers in assorted and diverse colors and shapes, attesting to the joie de vivre and creativity which is ageless and never-ending. The social-artistic project manifests the vitality and creative talents of senior citizens in Israel. The project was carried out on a purely voluntary basis, includes 70 centers for senior adults throughout the country – from the Golan Heights in the north to the Ayalot region in the south. Opened 19th September, 2014.”
