First, I applaud your appeal to both the intellectual (a rare tactic) and efforts to provide some level of religious historical context. I find that to be rare also.

I live in America. Western Europeans flooded in and took over the land from the natives. There was massive bloodshed and the natives now live on small plots of land that has been designated as "reservations" for them. These reservations have slightly different laws than the recognized US. They are allowed to operate and maintain casinos, which are typically forbidden in the US. The casinos generate a massive amount of income for the native Americans.

I would suggest that some form of reservation be considered for the Palestinians. While they can't claim the title of "Native Israelis", they can claim that they need to be subject to slightly different laws than the Jewish state of Israel. Thus, they should be allowed, within their reservations, to practice their religion (minus any jihadi or fatwah) and maybe operate casinos to generate income. This alleviates the need for a "two state solution" which has all the political reality and feasibility of a gnome riding a unicorn across the Red Sea.

Once the reservations are established, land ownership within the reservation can be offered to Palestinians at a discounted rate, just like Native Americans have within their reservations. Also, Palestinians choosing to remain on the reservation can get discounts on college tuition, just like Native Americans get here.

The system of reservations is not without flaws. In the US, the Native Americans have a higher rate of alcoholism and depression. While alcoholism will not likely be an issue for Palestinians, the issue of depression should be a non-factor considering how much better the quality of life could be for Palestinians living in safe reservations vs. what they encounter today.

I hope our countries history of dealing with others that could not live peacefully with us provides a roadmap to peace within the holy land of Israel. The idea of reservations for Palestinians would provide peace, stability, respect and the chance to finally slay the gnome/unicorn of "Two State Solution" once and for all.
